What are the advantages for the community?

For parents/schools

Provide a safer route to school that encourages healthier lifestyle and regular exercise in parents and children by giving an off-road pedestrian route with less pollution than the current walking routes to school via Western Avenue or Bridge Road

For Llandaff Cathedral/Llandaff village

Increase the footfall of visitors to the Cathedral and customers to the shops and cafes of Llandaff High Street. A huge number of walkers and cyclists use the Taff Trail but it is currently not easy to nip over the river to view the Cathedral or use the facilities in Llandaff High Street.

For Cardiff Metropolitan University

Provide students with more choices on how they travel to the University by linking up the main Taff Trail route with a path to the main campus, which avoids travelling on any main road

For Llandaff North residents

Gives easier access to an additional range of local resources in Llandaff High Street which are currently not found in Llandaff North, eg Post Office and Banks)

For Llandaff village residents

Gives a more direct (and non-road) access to the Taff Trail and from there a non-road route all the way to Cardiff Bay – reducing the need of cars driving into the City or the Bay

For local school students

Get them involved with the science and engineering behind a real local community project that will create a lifetime legacy. There could be the possibility of some of the school students working in partnership with the engineers to understand the design of the bridge and possibly even contributing to the design with a schools-wide competition

For the environment

Reducing traffic, pollution and congestion on Bridge Road and encouraging more families, children and students to walk/cycle to school or work
